Atletico Madrid vs Valencia: Atletico Madrid Made a Superb Comeback Against Valencia to Get the Much Needed Win

On Sunday Atletico Madrid faced off against Valencia in a La Liga encounter. They played the match after their losses to Real Sociedad in Copa del Rey and to Athletic Club in Spanish Super Cup. So, Diego Simeone’s men desperately required a win after their two consecutive defeats in the previous games. Atletico Madrid vs Valencia took place at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano. Before the match, Atletico was placed in the fourth position with 33 points (9 wins and 6 draws) whereas Valencia was standing at the ninth position with 29 points (7 wins and 8 draws). The match started at 01:30 am IST. Due to injuries, Atletico Madrid did not get the services of the likes of Marcos Llorente, Antonio Griezman, and Geoffrey Kondogbia who usually starts for Atletico Madrid.

On the other hand, Valencia also missed players like Daniel Wass and Maxi Gomez who are in self-isolation. Jose Gaya missed the game due to suspension while Carlos Soler and Gabriel Paulista were sidelined due to the injury. At the end of the first half, Valencia scored 2 goals and the scorers were Yunus Musah and Hugo Duro. After halftime, Atletico pushed themselves, and substitute Matheus Cunha scored the first goal for the club at 64 minutes. When things looked sealed for Valencia, Atletico struck twice in the added time in the 2nd half. At first, Angel Correa put the ball in the net, and then the final nail in the coffin was put by Mario Hermoso. A total of 12 players were shown yellow cards in the game. After the match, Simione said, “there are nights that stay with you, and this one will.” He also expressed his joy of winning in the post-match interview. The position of both the clubs has not changed after the match.
